CHEOW WEE

CHEOW WEE spent his early years as a student in Seremban. His late father was a decorated police officer who had served the Royal Malaysian Police, a career that spanned 35 years in the Special Branch, Anti-Gambling, Anti-Vice and his last posting in the Anti-Drugs Department whilst his mum was a home maker. His entire primary and secondary education was done at St Paul’s Institution. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of London in 1989 and subsequently passed the Certificate of Legal Practice in 1990.

Between 1990 to 1993 he lectured the Law of Evidence, Public International Law and Law of Succession in the Law School of Kolej Damansara Utama on the University of London External Course, the twinning programmes with University of Sheffield, England and Bond University, Australia. He has consistently been invited to be a Judge at the Moot Trials conducted by Taylor's University Law School since 2008.

Cheow Wee was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in March 1993 after his stint in the educational circle. His practice is focused only in civil and criminal litigation.

He currently sits on the Criminal Law Committee in the Kuala Lumpur Bar and was also formerly a committee member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Malaysian Bar. He was principle in mooting the idea of the Mentor-Mentee Programme currently being run at the Kuala Lumpur Bar. Cheow Wee is also an advocacy trainer under the auspices of the Malaysian Bar and he regularly volunteers his time to train members of the Bar, judiciary and the Attorney General Chambers on the Hampel Advocacy Course since 2011.

Cheow Wee loves his food and drinks. Together with his penchant for travelling he has travelled far and wide in search of the best food. Occasionally a pint of Guinness or a single malt in the company of loved ones and good friends whilst listening to 80’s music after work will make his day. His attempts to emulate his icons on the golf course is an exercise in futility but he enjoys it regardless when he can find the time. Watching live soccer matches on television in the comfort of his home will complete his weekends.
